WHAT WE DO
FUNdamental Learning Works was established to help all learners become independent and empowered by their education. We believe that each and every student has the potential to succeed, and we are here to give them the tools they need to do so. These are just a few examples of the types of services we provide. Social Skills
At FUNdamental Learning Works we know that there is more to success in school than good grades. When looking back at our memories in school, usually the things we remember most are the fun times we had with friends. Sometimes the abilities to talk to peers, and make/keep friends are challenging for children. We provide individual social coaching, school-based social coaching and social groups.
Consulting
Educational decisions are among the most important decisions a family can make. Let us help you in planning the next steps for your child. We are available to do school visits, IEP meetings and family planning meetings.
Executive Function Coaching
Executive functions are the essential self-regulating skills that we all use every day. They help us plan, organize, make decisions, shift between situations or thoughts, control our emotions and impulses, and learn from experiences. Kids rely on their executive functions for everything from getting dressed in the mornings to completing homework assignments.
Our Executive Function Coaching program helps kids build these fundamental skills, by teaching strategies like: scheduling, using a planner, breaking down assignments and using checklists.
Tutoring
Every learner needs a litle extra help sometimes. Whether it is to prepare for an exam, catch up in a class or get ahead. We have extensive experience with most subjects and a variety of curricula. Tutoring sessions can be short term or long term, depending on the learner's needs.
Test Prep
Are you and your child worried about upcoming standardized testing? Are you looking to prepare your child for entrance exams for elementary/middle/high school? At FUNdamental Learning Works we know that performance on standardized tests can be improved by teaching test taking strategies. We offer short-term "cram sessions" and long-term study programs.
Remediation
There can be a number of reasons why a learner may fall behind in school. Our remediation programs use assessment data to identify skill gaps, and then implement research based interventions to help the learner "catch up." We specialize in reading, writing and math remediation.
Advocacy
Every learner needs different supports to be successful. We guide our learners to recognize their unique learning styles and then effectively advocate for themselves. Additionally, we work with families and schools to ensure that every learner has the appropriate accommodations and modifications in place to be successful.
